THE
ARTIST

I’m a Melbourne-based makeup artist and educator, and I’ve been working in the industry for over a decade.

What has kept me here all these years is that I genuinely love what I do. I love faces; the differences between them, the details that make someone uniquely themselves, and the creative process of working out what will complement them rather than simply applying a look. I love the connection that comes with sitting across from someone, and the collaboration involved in bringing an idea, reference or feeling to life.

My approach to makeup is considered and individual. I’m drawn to refined skin, thoughtful detail and balance, with each decision guided by the person in front of me. My work can move from understated, almost imperceptible makeup through to polished soft glam, but the intention remains the same: to create something that feels like it belongs to the person wearing it.

There’s also something incredibly rewarding about the simplest part of the job: making someone happy. Seeing a person look at themselves and feel beautiful will never get old to me.

Education has become just as important to me as artistry. Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of training more than 200 artists across Australia through private lessons and workshops - and I absolutely love teaching. I love sharing what I know, pulling apart the reasoning behind a decision, answering the oddly specific questions, and watching another artist begin to see something they hadn’t noticed before.

Whether I’m working with a client, collaborating on a shoot or teaching another artist, it’s the combination of connection, creativity and curiosity that continues to make this work exciting to me.
